Scientific MDC-35 Magnetizer
The DCM-35 DC Magnetizer was designed
as a highly reliable yet low cost alternative to capacitive
discharge magnetizers for specific applications. The
DCM-35 is capable of generating magnetizing fields
up to 20 KOe for small sample sizes.
The high fields are
obtained through the use of steel return frame which
produces a semi closed loop magnetic path. This method
reduces the reluctance of the magnetic path, therefore
making it much more efficient than air core system.
This allows the use of much less power in creating
the required magnetizing field.
The DCM-35 has two pole pieces which form the air gap
in which the sample to be magnetized is placed. This
pole pieces may be custom designed and manufactured
to to suit a specific application. For most applications
the air gap spacing is adjustable to allow for optimum
spacing of the pole pieces.

The Perkin-Elmer TGA-7
Thermo gravimetric analyzer measures the weight loss
of samples upon heating. The samples can be heated
in a nitrogen or an air atmosphere, the gas being selectable
via manual mode. The furnace can heat samples from
room temperature to 900°C. The balance is sensitive
to 0.1 microgram. The instrument uses Perkin-Elmer
Pyris software for data acquisition and processing.
